Meet Your Teacher

Hi ... I'm Cartess Ross!

And I've been living by best life in Merida, Mexico for the last 15-months. It's always been a dream of mine to live abroad and now I'm finally doing it with my family.

When I first arrived in Mexico, I made the same mistakes all newbies make. Instead of comparing prices to what the locals pay, I compared rentals to what it'd cost back in the States!

That's was a BIG mistake! When you do that, you end up paying more than you should, and you also make it hard for the locals to be able to afford to live here as well (think gentrification).

I paid way too much for the 1st house I rented and ended up moving out because the area wasn't right for me. I did a much better job on the 2nd house; and since then, I've helped many foreigners coming to Mexico to find a place to live.

I've been inside hundreds of houses, apartments and townhomes since arriving here, and have negotiated great deals and terms for my clients.

I want to show you how to find the best rentals by avoiding the mistakes I and countless others have made. I've packaged my experiences into the 'Find the Ultimate Rental in Mexico and Pay What the Locals Pay™' course  to give you insight into the strategies that'll help you find the best locations and deals.

Let's find your dream home in Mexico!

A crash course in finding the best home and apartment rentals in Mexico

STEP-BY-STEP LESSONS TO KEEP YOU FROM GETTING GRINGO-PRICED!

Find Rentals Like a Local in Mexico™ was designed for your success. Every facet of the course was carefully planned to serve the goal of helping you find rentals that help you achieve your overall goals.

STAGE 1: FINDING THE RIGHT NEIGHBORHOOD FOR YOU AND/OR YOUR FAMILY

Every city in Mexico is broken up into neighborhoods or colonias ... And for the most part, each colonia is self-contained; and everything you need to do can be done within the colonia or neighborhood without you having to leave. Wanna take yoga classes? It's probably a class or two in your neighborhood. Need to go to the market or get fresh eggs? You won't have to leave. Need to get your car fixed? Want to enroll your kid in ballet? Need a birthday cake? Need to see the dentist or doctor? It's all in your neighborhood. Each colonia has its own uniqueness and personality. I'll teach you how to find the colonia that works best for you, even if you don't know which to consider.

STAGE 2: how to find houses, townhomes and apartments for rent

There are a variety of ways to find rentals. Depending on your location and computer settings, you may have a challenge seeing local listings from where you' are. I'll provide you with resources, tips and tricks for finding rentals. If you're already here in Mexico, I'll show you my favorite way for finding rentals (most of the time they're not listed online and this trick will help you find those 'undisclosed' rentals)

STAGE 3: making yourself appear as a local so you avoid the 'gringo-tax' (paying more)

The locals know when you're using a translate app like Google translate to communicate with them. When trying to find the true price of a rental, it's important you show up as a 'local' so you won't get the 'gringo price'. I'll show you how to do this so you can get the true price of the rental. Talk too much and you'll be spotted as a 'gringo'. If you text them, they'll know you're not from around here!

My Disclaimer:

Hi. Cartess Ross, founder of Move Abroad and Thrive here. I want to make sure you understand this is not a guarantee that everything will go smoothly type of course. All sorts of things can go wrong. You could get a landlord that sucks (you won't know until after you moved in). You could end up in a house where everything goes wrong. The goal of this course is to help you minimize these kinds of risks and to help you know what to look for when considering rentals in Mexico. I've been in hundreds of rental houses and apartments in Mexico and have communicated and talked to countless 'agents, property managers and homeowners'. Because of that, the results I can get are not typical, while your results can/will vary significantly. This offering is an education tool. Always remember that making any sort of real estate transaction in any country involves risk. Some people succeed, and some fail. All testimonials are real and valid, but are not guarantees you will obtain the same results.
