Hmmm… With 3 daughters now living with me, ages 14, 16 and 20, these would be the areas I’d choose. Primarily because it’s close to all of the shopping/entertainment. They could either walk or ride bikes. Or Uber / Didi options would get them where ever they want to go for about 30-55 pesos. Mine only go into Centro a couple time a month to meet friends, but I’d choose any of these areas, and these are areas I’m currently looking in for myself because I have teens:
– Francisco de Montejo
– Xcumpich
– Altabrisa– Colonia Maya (parts of this run into Altabrisa – there’s a sweet spot that puts you near all of the shopping that they can walk too).
– Montes de Ame (there’s a sweet spot you gotta find that’s near the shopping area — the rest of this area is nothing but houses)
These two areas below is to the East and the 2nd one is to the West (both inside the perimeter). These areas are different from the fancy North, but they got everything you’d need (particularly Pensiones). More older but because my girls have been here for almost 2 years, they prefer to shop in the more ‘local stores’ more so than the mall (although they are at the mall regularly, primarily for social meetups with friends).
– Macroplaza
– Pensiones (my kids love this area but it may be a hard sell for newbies coming in, only after being here for a while and settling in, you’ll see why this area is a favorite).
